'Outstanding DBKL Bills Payment' campaign starts next month

    KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will hold a campaign next month to explain the various arrears in payment due from residents and to allow them to settle the amounts to avoid legal action.
    Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said that through the "Outstanding DBKL Bills Payment" campaign, residents will be able to obtain the latest update on their offences and to pay, appeal or negotiate on the payments.
    The campaign would cover the payment of assessment, public housing (PPR) and public housing (PA) rentals, market stalls rentals, and DBKL traffic compounds, he added.
    Speaking at a press conference here today, he said the assessment and traffic compounds' campaign will be held from 9am to 2pm on Aug 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 32 locations in the city while the PPR and PA rentals at six locations.
    The market stalls' rentals and assessment payment campaign will be held at Menara DBKL 1 and 3 from 9am to 5pm from Aug 22 to 26.
    He said that for last year, the arrears in assessment payments was as much as RM102 million of the RM1.2 billion due while the arrears in market stalls' rentals outstanding was RM7.5 million of the RM17 million due from tenants.
    On PPR housing, he said the rental was RM124 a month which was one of the lowest rates, however, the arrears in payments amounted to RM32 million of the RM64 million due from tenants.
    Mhd Amin Nordin called on the public to take this opportunity to appeal and negotiate with the local authority on settling the outstanding payment to avoid legal action.
