Agong fetes judges and participants of international Quran reciters' assembly

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V today graced a state luncheon to fete judges and participants of the 59th International Quran Reciters' Assembly
The luncheon held at the Main Banquet Hall of Istana Negara here was attended by 20 judges and 84 participants from various countries, including Singapore, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Iran.
Also present was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
At the luncheon, guests were entertained by a nasyid performance from the Saujana group and a video clip on the Al-Quran recital.
The six-day International Quran Reciters' Assembly began on Monday (May 15) at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
A total of 22 countries participated in the Quran recital category while another 24 countries in the Quran category in addition to 24 countries that are taking part in the open category to choose one of the two categories. — Bernama
