KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed unchanged against the US dollar today for the second consecutive session despite opening slightly higher this morning, dealers said.
A dealer said mild profit-taking emerged during the afternoon session and curbed earlier gains with some investors staying on the sidelines ahead of the weekend.
At 6pm, the local unit stood at 4.2200/2240 against the greenback, similar to Thursday's close of 4.2200/2240.
The ringgit ended mixed against other major currencies.
It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.1146/1187 from Thursday's 3.1153/1187 and rose against the euro to 4.9918/9970 from 5.0007/0071 yesterday.
The local unit declined against the British pound to 5.5995/5065 from 5.5772/5841 and depreciated against the yen to 3.7638/7677 from 3.7538/7577 yesterday. — Bernama
