KUALA LUMPUR: Just by listening to her powerful voice, one would never guess that the newcomer in the music industry is just a 13-year-old.
Despite not having any formal vocal training, Iman Balqis had indeed captivated the audience with her ability to belt out songs in high notes as she performed her new duet single, "Api dan Cinta", featuring Ayied Saharin, 25, today.
"My parents discovered my singing talent when I was five. After that, I never look back in pursuing my dream to be a singer," she told reporters at the launch of the duet song penned by famous composer, Rosli Selasih here.
With international pop singer Ariana Grande as her idol, Iman Balqis had also planned to try different genres to make her a versatile songstress.
As such, the girl, who signed up under Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd, said she would not mind to continue working together with Ayied Saharin as her duet partner in future projects to add colours in the local music industry.
"It's not difficult to find the chemistry although there's a huge age difference. In fact, it's easier for me to sing the song as the genre fits my tone," she said.
Meanwhile, Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd Artist and Repertoire manager, Sham Amir Hussain said both Iman Balqis and Ayied Saharin were capable of being the new duet singers in Malaysia.
"It's not easy to find two singers with great chemistry just like Achik Spin-Siti Nordiana and Nurul Wahab-Ajai. As such, we are planning to continue producing duet and solo songs for them," he said, adding that there was a plan to take "Api dan Cinta" song to Indonesia. — Bernama
