CYBERJAYA: Firms hiring those above the age of 60 should submit proposals to get certain incentives, said Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.
Mohd Irwan, who is also Treasury Secretary-General, said bringing those aged above 60 back to work would enable youngsters to venture into other activities that could bring innovations to the country besides creating social inclusion.
He said he would forward the proposal to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
"Those above 60 have been working all their life and sometimes, staying at home can make them fell depressed.
"So we can bring them to work in certain sectors," he said during the launch of MaGIC's Malaysia Social Inclusion and Vibrant Entrepreneurship (MasSIVE) Impact Day here today.
Mohd Irwan said Cyberjaya would see the use of autonomous taxis by year-end and the first car was already at the MaGIC campus.
In a statement today, MaGIC said, the MasSIVE Impact Day provided a convening space for entrepreneurs, corporate, non-governmental organisation and the public sector, as well as the general public to gather and participate in collaborative initiatives that can create social and economic impact. — Bernama
