Syabas fail to provide accurate information and service

KUALA LUMPUR: Water and Energy Consumer Association of Malaysia (WECAM) today claimed that Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) has failed to provide accurate information such as the availability and scheduled trips of water tankers.
WECAM president Saravanan Thambirajah said, the information seemed only to have been updated once a day and only provided information on when the water supply would be restored, yet so far the problem was still prevailing.
"Syabas should have made contingency plans better to counter the water supply issues. They have failed to anticipate the problems and measures were not taken or even communicated with the consumers," he said in a statement here today.
He said consumers also complained of never receiving any replies from Syabas even though many short messaging system (SMS) messages and calls were made through the hotline.
Syabas needed to invest in buying more water tankers, ensure a better customer service and made consultations with other stakeholders to tackle the crisis, he added. — Bernama
