Wan Azizah denies having two 'camps' in PKR

PETALING JAYA: PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today brushed aside the allegations that there are two 'camps' in the party which affected the nomination process of candidates for the 14th General Election (GE14).
"There are no two camps. (In fact,) there is only one camp which is my camp," she told a press conference after the briefing for Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates in GE14 here.
Also present were PH chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.
Prior to this, several local media reported that the PKR had split into two camps between Wan Azizah and her deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali following a dispute over their selection of candidates in the GE14.
Asked on the absence of Azmin at the event, Wan Azizah said she did not know what was the reason and that maybe Azmin had other important matters to attend to.
Commenting on her chances of contesting the Pandan parliamentary seat in Selangor compared to Permatang Pauh in Penang, she said: "Why not? I have the experience in Selangor before this. I have no problem in switching seats."
The Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat will be contested by his daughter, Nurul Izzah. PKR will contest in 51 parliamentary seats and 140 state seats in Peninsular Malaysia in the GE14.
Meanwhile, at the event, Dr Mahathir said the polling day was fixed on a working day when he was the prime minister because there were no critical matters that arose or redelineation of constituencies at that time.
Asked about his chances of winning the Langkawi parliamentary seat, Dr Mahathir said he was confident that the change in people's thinking over the past two years could be of help.
"Yes, the vote advantage for BN, which is represented by UMNO, is huge, namely 11,000 out of 40,000 voters. In fact, 7,000 votes will be enough for us. We are confident that we can obtain more than that," he said.
