Pakatan hoping for second wave of voter turnout

PORT DICKSON: The turnout for the Port Dickson by-election stands at 40% as of 1pm today, according to the Election Commission (EC).
Pakatan Harapan (PH) is now banking on a "second wave of voter turnout" in the evening to achieve its target of a 70% attendance.
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the 34% figure as of 12pm was still low and that the party was continuing to work hard to get voters in the constituency to come out and vote.
"The issue is those who are working and are not at home. We can't really monitor them.
"So to say if we are confident of achieving (the 70% target), it depends if there will be a second wave of big turnout," he told a press conference, here, today.
The EC had previously predicted a turnout of 70% for the Port Dickson by-election, a figure that PH is also targeting.
Meanwhile, PKR information chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said the current voters turnout rate was not enough in the party's effort to get as big a majority as possible for its candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
PH had on many occasions said it was hoping for a huge majority for Anwar as an endorsement of support for him as the next prime minister.
