SEREMBAN: The implementation of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) will not only shorten travelling time between the two cities but also travelling time within the country.
Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pix) said the HSR implementation would create a station in Seremban where the journey between Seremban and Johor Baru in future would be less than half-an-hour.
"With the signing of the agreement, the journey from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore would be about 90 minutes with the travelling speed exceeding 300kph while domestic travel from Seremban to Johor Baru will take less than half-an-hour.
"So, with the availability of a station in Seremban later, we plan for the Seremban station to be connected to the KLIA which will subsequently create a new growth centre which will be part of the plan for the construction of a modern development area known as the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV). This will also boost the public transportation facilities in the coutry," he said.
Yesterday, Malaysia and Singapore signed the bilateral agreement which paved the way for the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail which would reduce the journey time between the two cities to merely 90 minutes.
The HSR Project encompasses eight stations namely Bandar Malaysia, Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat, Iskandar Puteri and Singapore.
The 350km track would reduce the travelling time between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to only 90 minutes with a train that can travel at a speed of more than 350kph. — Bernama
