MALAYSIAN Nissan cars assembler and distributor Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) marked the introduction of the new Nissan X-Gear crossover model late last week. The new five-seater crossover sports several revisions over its predecessor, the Livina X-Gear.
Primary exterior updates include a new chrome V-strut grille, rugged new moulded side moulding overfenders, new front and rear bumpers, restyled side mirrors, as well as a set of new V-spoke alloy wheels.
On board, the fabric seats and the instrumentation have been updated for increased comfort and clearer visibility respectively. Notable features here include the integrated steering-mounted infotainment controls and 60:40 split folding rear seats that increase luggage space from 383 litres to 769 litres.
The X-Gear is driven by Nissan's compact 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with variable valve timing that develops 104hp and 150Nm of torque, paired with an electronically controlled fourspeed automatic transmission. Safety features include ABS brakes with EBD and BA, plus dual SRS airbags.
With five paintjob options available, the new Nissan X-Gear is priced on the road at RM89,800 inclusive of a three-year or 100,000km warranty plan.
