KUALA LUMPUR: The pain and suffering of surviving members of the Batang Kali massacre victims will soon be presented on stage.
The Action Committee Condemning the massacre, founded by the late Quek Jin Teck, is collaborating with Kelab Gecinta Malaysia, the Ulu Yam Bharu Kwang Tung Association, Selangor, the Dramatic Art society and PJ Kwan Inn Teng Dharma Protectors Group to present this theatrical play titled "No Cover Up".
The drama will also showcase the perseverance of these family members in seeking justice from the British government for the brutal killings.
"This production aims to let the public know of our ancestors' suffering during the Emergency. We have found that some parts of history have not been reflected accurately and we believe everyone, the young especially, should learn the truth," said Quek Ngee Meng (pix), the action committee coordinator and also the founder's son.
"The family members will not give up until they get justice for the loss of their loved ones," he stressed.
The massacre happened on Dec 12, 1948 when 24 civilians were shot dead in the Sungei Remok Rubber Estate in Batang Kali by the Second Battalion of the Scot Guards.
On Feb 25, 2012, the families of the victims filed a judicial review in UK Divisional Court to review the British government's decision not to hold an inquiry into the massacre.
The UK Supreme Court is set to hear the appeal on April 22 and 23 next year.
The play will be staged at The Kuala Lumpur Performance Arts Centre from Dec 4-7.
Tickets for the play, priced at RM28 and RM38, can be purchased online at www.ticketpro.com.
