GEORGE TOWN: The daughter of Australian woman Annapuranee “Anna” Jenkins has made an emotional plea for the safe return of her mom who has now been missing for 58 days.
Jen Bowen, 40, the eldest daughter, in a video clip that was made available to theSun made a heartfelt plea to any Malaysians who may have come across her mom to furnish the family with information.
"If you know something about mom, please let us know, we need to know if she is safe and healthy. We just want her home," Bowen said in the clip, ahead of her mother's 66th birthday on Feb 6.
Holding back tears, Bowen appealed to Annapuranee directly stating that her dad is missing his wife.
"Dad is really struggling, I know mom would too. So, mom if you can hear this, you are so smart, please find a way to get back to us, to get back to dad," she pleaded.
"We want to see you happy and healthy again and we are trying to do everything we can, to make that happen," she said, adding that her younger brother is also desperately searching for their mother.
Emphasising that there is no family dispute, she said that her parents have been together for more than 40 years and have never been apart.
Annapuranee whose sole relative in Malaysia is her 101-year-old mother disappeared without a trace after heading out for a dental appointment in Pulau Tikus, on Dec 13, 2017.
She is supposed to have visited her mother at the Little Sisters of the Poor Home For the Infirm following the dental appointment but requested her ride-sharing service driver to drop her off at the Scotland Road and Batu Gantung main traffic intersection.
Both the Malaysian and Australian authorities including a special Aussie firm, staffed with personnel with Special Forces experience, are baffled over how she can remain missing in this day and age when technology such as personal tracking device is in widespread use.
There have been reports of possible sightings of her in Batu Feringghi early last month but there hasn't been any concrete indication from the public about her.
The family also have dismissed the possibility that Annapuranee could have been abducted as there have been no ransom notes or calls from kidnappers, although there were reports alleging that she felt harassed by certain quarters over her passport.
A risk management agency Panoptic Solution Inc has also been roped in by the family in their efforts to find the grandmother of two.
