No Malaysians involved in East Jakarta bombing: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that no Malaysians were involved in the recent two bombing incidents that took place at Kampung Melayu Bus Terminal, East Jakarta, Indonesia on Wednesday, at 9pm.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta is closely monitoring this incident with local authorities. Malaysians who are present or residing around the affected area are advised to stay vigilant and to report to the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim has advised Malaysians residing in Indonesia to remain alert and stay away from public places or heavily guarded areas.
He said the warning was addressed to Malaysians who were not only in Jakarta but also at other locations in the country.
"We have also requested the cooperation of the Indonesian police to ensure no Malaysians were affected in the incident and so far no such report has been received," he said.
Also killed in the 9pm bomb explosion were two suicide bombers.
Malaysian consulates in the neighbouring countries have been told to advise Malaysians to avoid public places or police guarded areas, said the Jakarta-based ambassador.
According to him, the situation so far was under control and security forces have been placed on high alert. — Bernama
