Proton: November achievements, upcoming promotions

PROTON registered 4,820 new car sales throughout last month, an improvement over the same period in 2017.

Market share as a percentage of the Total Industry Volume (TIV) is estimated at 10.2% though a final confirmed figure will only be available following the publication of industry sales data by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

Promotions, tax-free pricing power sales numbers

As was the case for the previous month, Proton maintained its attractive pricing strategy in November as well as the zero SST pricing policy where the company absorbs the tax amount for all models. These promotions have found favour with buyers.

“Proton is continuing its zero SST pricing policy for all current models to make it easier for our customers to own a Proton car. We are also making the brand more accessible by participating in local events such as road shows and carnivals, thus providing more avenues to view, test and buy a Proton car,” said Proton Edar CEO Abdul Rashid Musa.

“Unfortunately, there was a supply constraint in November, limiting the number of cars we could deliver. So while our overall sales improved over the same month in 2017, the company would like to apologise to all its dealers for not being able to meet our commitments.”

For this month, Proton is celebrating its recent victory in the recent 2018 Sepang 1000KM (S1K) race with a promotion titled “Champion Rebates”.

“By winning the S1K for a fourth time with a fourth different model, Proton became the most successful brand in the history of the event, a fact the company is recognising by offering rebates of up to RM3,000 for four of its cars, namely the Proton Ertiga, Iriz, Persona and Saga,” added Abdul Rashid.

“Proton’s victory at the 2018 S1K with the Proton Iriz proves the speed and handling inherent in every Proton model. It also demonstrates the reliability of our cars as the winner had to survive 1,000km of hard driving in race conditions.

“Proton is a believer in the value motor sports delivers to the brand and its products so we will continue to participate in races and rallies in the future with Team Proton R3.”

X70 at KLIMS, launch on Dec 12

As pre-launch bookings continue to climb for the Proton X70, crowds swarmed around the Proton pavilion at the recent Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 (KLIMS18) to get a close look at the company’s first SUV.

“The show marked the first time the Proton X70 was revealed to the general public and judging by the attention it received, car buyers are eager to find out as much as they can about the first jointly developed model between Geely and Proton.”

During KLIMS18, it was announced the launch date for the X70 is set on Dec 12, bringing an end to speculation about when the SUV would go on sale.

“The high-technology features and safety focused engineering of the SUV have been proven by its five-star Asean NCAP rating, being awarded the highest score recorded for its market segment, as well as being granted Energy Efficient Vehicle status by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry,” said Abdul Rashid.

Safety inspection campaign from Dec till end of Feb

As the end of year holiday period has begun, Proton would like to make the journeys taken during this period safer by offering a free 18-point safety inspection for all Proton models at its authorised service centres.

The promotion will begin tomorrow and continue until the end of February to encompass the end of year school holidays, Christmas and Chinese New Year festive periods.

“Road safety is one of our main priorities and Proton is constantly looking at ways to improve the safety of its vehicles. Our aim is to make every journey safer and hopefully that contributes to a reduction in the national road accident numbers,” added Abdul Rashid.
