Flex opens facility in Penang as vaccination centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Flex Ltd, a technology and manufacturing solutions provider, today opens its facility in Penang as a vaccination centre and expects to receive 13,500 of its workers and 90 workers from nearby factories under the Public-Private Partnership Industrial Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pikas).

The Flex vaccination centre, located at the Lean Academy building, Bukit Minyak, Penang, can accommodate up to 1,000 people per day for vaccination.

Flex vice-president of operations Viswanathan Paramasivam said, in addition to the use of its facilities, the company also offered its workers to assist in facilitating the vaccination process including registration and other services which do not require healthcare workers.

Manufacturing is the mainstay of Flex's business and the company understands the needs to accelerate the pace of herd immunity in Malaysia, he said.

“We offer our resources in Penang including facilities and manpower to help the government in carrying out the vaccination programme,” he said in a statement today.

Flex is a multinational company established in Malaysia in 1990 and has 11 facilities across Johor, Penang, and Selangor.
