BUTTERWORTH: Police are tracking down a motorist who was found driving a Perodua Axia against the traffic flow at KM4.8 of the Butterworth-Kulim Highway (BKE) in Seberang Jaya here, in a video which went viral on social media today.
Seberang Perai Tengah District Police chief ACP Shafee Abd Samad said the police had so far not received a report on the incident, however, they were examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages at the scene for further investigation.
“No accident was reported from the incident, however, the motorist’s action caused anger among other road users as can be seen in the video.
“Police are conducting further investigations and members of the public with information regarding the incident are urged to come forward,“ he said in a statement today.
Earlier, a 51-second video clip showing a grey car being driven against the traffic flow on the right-most lane on the route towards Butterworth, had gone viral on social media.
The video, which also showed several cars trying to dodge the vehicle which was driving in the wrong direction, was recorded by a road user before being uploaded to social networking site Facebook. — Bernama
