RMCO extended till March 31 (Updated)

PETALING JAYA: The nationwide Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) that ended on Dec 31, 2020 has been extended till March 31, Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said in a statement today.

He said this applies to the whole country except for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and other areas that are under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) or the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

“This decision was made after taking into account the risk assessment conducted by the Health Ministry which found a significant increase in cases still happening across the country with a high rate of infection,” he added.

Ismail Sabri also noted that the increase in cases is due to the implementation of mandatory screening of foreign workers that is being carried out on a large scale.

It is also a result of infection transmission in the detected communities, mainly in the Klang Valley and several other states.

Besides that, he said all standard operating procedures under the RMCO will continue to be enforced as

usual and will be subject to change from time to time.

“Today is the first day of 2021. This year will bring major challenges not just to Malaysia but worldwide. Let’s be determined to face this challenge together. Remember to always follow the SOPs to stay safe,” he said.
