PETALING JAYA: SK Taman Tasik Ampang has instructed its pupils to undergo swab test beginning today after a teacher has been infected with Covid-19.

According to a source, parents and guardians had received a message via WhatsApp from the parent-teacher association (PTA) chairman to inform students who had been in close contact with the teacher to undergo the screening.

When theSun called the school for confirmation, one of the staff there confirmed that the teacher was teaching standard five and standard six pupils there. She said the teacher was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

The source told theSun the teacher had contracted the virus from friends who tested positive in Kelantan.

It was reported that the teacher had hung out with the friends at a house at Taman Dato Ahmad Razali in Ampang. The friends went back to Kelantan and were tested positive there after undergoing the screening.

A message received by a parent said the PTA has been informed l that the school will operate as usual as there is no instruction yet from the Ministry of Health or the State Education Department (JPN).

However, the text stated the school has taken preventive measures and sanitation of the school ground starting today.

“All close contacts of the teacher have also been advised to get swab tests. For the safety of the schoolchildren, if you are reluctant to send your child to school, PTA recommends informing the teacher of the class,“ a PTA spokesperson said.
