Strong quake hits east coast of Kamchatka, Russia

KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale was detected near the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia at 11.06 am today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement said the earthquake with a depth of 102 kilometres occurred 22 km southwest of Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, Russia.
