14-day compulsory quarantine for Malaysians returning from overseas

PETALING JAYA: All Malaysians returning from overseas have to undergo a compulsory 14-day quarantine at designated centres around the country, starting from April 3.

Senior Minister (Defence), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that as soon as they have landed, the authorities will bring them straight from the airport to the selected quarantine facilities.

“Once they are at the airport, they will be taken to the designated quarantine centres provided by the government by bus which they will then be screened according to the standard operating procedure (SOP),“ he said during his daily press conference today.

Ismail said there will be no exceptions made to any Malaysians as they must be under isolation for two weeks in order to prevent the virus from spreading.

“We will advise all family members not to pick up anyone at the airport as the authorities will send them straight to the provided centres, however they may reach them through handphone via call or texts,“ he added.
