KUALA LUMPUR: In a move to further encourage recycling efforts, Berjaya Corporation (BCorp) launched a recycling programme today titled “Recycle for a Good Cause”.

The campaign aims to raise awareness on how recycling supports the environment and community welfare.

The programme is conducted in collaboration with the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu-Chi Foundation Malaysia and in support of the “Kita1Keluarga” charity project which has been providing aid for needy Malaysian families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the launch at Berjaya Times Square today, BCorp executive chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan thanked the members of BCorp for their hard work and dedication in making the programme possible.

“I think recycling is something that we all know is important but something that we all forget to do.

“It will help reduce the amount of waste reaching landfills, which will then be helping the environment,“ he said.

Under the programme, employees of BCorp and its subsidiaries will gather recyclable items on the third Friday of each month.

The designated collection point will be at the LG East Entrance of Berjaya Times Square.

Meanwhile, Tzu Chi commissioner Puan Sri Tong Siew Bee expressed her gratitude to Tan for taking the initiative and aiding in efforts to tackle environmental issues.

“The Tzu Chi foundation also has 200 points across Klang Valley where we aid in recycling efforts, on every third Sunday of the month,“ she said.
