DBKL towers to be closed on Dec 8 as a precaution during anti-Icerd rally

KUALA LUMPUR: Two City Hall (DBKL) towers will be closed on Dec 8, as a precaution during the anti-Icerd “Thanksgiving” rally.

A directive by the DBKL being circulated on social media confirmed to be official by DBKL. An officer told theSun that Menara DBKL 1 and Menara DBKL 2 at Jalan Raja Laut, will be closed on the said date.

The statement also said that DBKL staffs are not allowed to be in the building during the closure.

“DBKL staffs are not allowed to work or be at the office on Dec 8.

“All official DBKL vehicles which are now at Menara DBKL 1, DBKL 2 and Dataran DBKL will be moved to the Mechanical and Engineering Department at Cheras,“ the staement read.

The directive restricted any form of work in the buildings including cleaning and renovation.

On Dec 3, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan gave the green light for the anti-Icerd rally to be held at Jalan Raja on Dec 8 on the condition that it will be conducted peacefully.

Nor Hisham said that the go-ahead was given after discussions with government agencies and police.

“We permitting their gathering in the hopes they would obey the law. Since it is more in the form of Thanksgiving (kesyukuran), we will give them the green light,“ he said.

“The permission for the gathering is from 2pm to 6pm along Jalan Raja opposite Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad and Dataran Merdeka.”
