KUALA LUMPUR: A former managing director of Felcra’s subsidiary, Felcra Training & Consultancy Sdn Bhd (FTC) claimed trial today to 33 counts of misappropriation of funds and the distribution of contracts worth around RM 1.6 million.

Rohaizat Ahmad,54, was charged at the Jalan Duta sessions court here, under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 which is also punishable Under Section 24 of the same act.

He is accused of using his position at the company to solicit bribes for a relative after allegedly appointing Al Maisan Enterprise, a company belonging to one of his in-laws, to supply electronic equipment.

The offences were alleged to have been committed between April 2014 and June 2018.

Under Section 24 of the MACC Act, an individual faces a prison term of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the sum of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.

Rohaizat claimed trial after the charges were read to him before sessions court Judge Azura Alwi.

Azura set Oct 10 for remention. She also set bail at RM80,000 and instructed Rohaizat to surrender his passport.

Rohaizat will also be required to report himself to the MACC headquarters every month until his trial is over.
