KUALA LUMPUR: A man with two children pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Magistrate’s Court here today on charges of voluntarily causing hurt and criminally intimidating his ex-wife.
Shahirul Syafiq Shaharin, 32, made the plea after the charges were read out to him before Magistrate Mohammad Firdaus Saidina Ali.
On the first count, he was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, read together with section 326A of the same law, with voluntarily causing hurt on Nor Syifaa Zamri, 25, by slapping the woman on the head and punching her face.
He was also charged under Section 506 of the same law for criminal intimidation by threatening to kill the woman and her family.
Both the offences were committed at a house in Taman Ukay Perdana here at 10.30pm on Sept 26.
Shahirul Syafiq, unrepresented, was allowed bail in one surety of RM2,000 for the first charge, and RM3,000 for the second charge and also warned against going near the victim and the witnesses.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Intan Syakieraah Zakaria prosecuted.
