GUA MUSANG: Police here have asked residents not to panic when they hear loud explosion-like noises as it is part of a series of fighter jet training exercises in the area.
The district police chief Supt Mohd Taufik Maidin, said he had been informed in advance on the training of fighter jets from Gong Kedak, Terengganu.
“The training included detonating explosives in the air, but it will not endanger the public as it is merely an exercise and the explosives were targetted away from the populated areas,” he said when contacted, here today.
At around 5pm today, residents heard a loud explosion followed by a mild tremor which had gone viral on social media with various assumptions made by netizens.
Mohd Taufik said only certain areas were affected by the tremor.
A resident here, Muhamad Shafie Osman, 52, said he was shocked by the sound of the explosion which shook his house, before rushing out of his home to see where the explosion was taking place. - Bernama
