KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14: The well-being of flood victims in Pahang is getting the attention of none other than the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as His Majesty continued his series of visits to the temporary relief centre (PPS) in Kampung Serambi, Pekan, today.
The King who was accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and their children, the Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah, Tengku Panglima Muda Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adzam Shah and Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah ‘Athiyatullah were seen chatting with villagers and enquiring about their well-being.
During the visit, the Agong also presented contributions to flood victims to lighten their burden.
In this regard, corporate bodies, volunteers and non-governmental organisations from states under Movement Control Order especially red zones are not allowed to carry out post-flood activities in Pahang.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said apart from red zones or states under MCO, the volunteer groups concerned have to register at https://ebanjir.pahang.gov.my as well as obtaining interstate travel approval from police.
Meanwhile, the flood situation Sarawak has worsened when the number flood victims in the state rose with 33 temporary relief centres in operation.
Kuching recorded the highest number of flood victims with 1,179 people including an eight-month-old baby with a hole in the heart at a centre in the district.
The flood situation in Sabah, Pahang and Johor is improving when the number of victims at PPS dropped while the flood situation in Kelantan has fully receded after the last PPS in Pasir Mas was closed this evening.
All flood victims in Pasir Mas were allowed to return home at 6 pm following fair weather in past few days.- Bernama
