KUALA LUMPUR: Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that discussions on potential collaboration between Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Mubadala Investment Company took place during his audience with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“Productive discussions with HH Sheikh @MohamedBinZayed Al Nahyan on the potential for strategic collaboration between Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Mubadala Investment Company on infrastructure and strategic industries to create prosperity for the benefit of both countries,” the minister tweeted.

Mubadala is Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Azmin, on the micro-blogging site Twitter, also said that a discussion on the establishment of the Joint Investment Committee (JIC) to boost investments between both countries will be co-chaired by ministers from Malaysia and the UAE.

“JIC seeks to unlock the full potential of economic cooperation between Malaysia and the UAE in various sectors, including energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, and tourism,” said the minister, who leads the Malaysian delegation to the 8th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER8) and the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi (WEC24).

“The UAE is Malaysia’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and we are excited of the economic potential presented through mutually beneficial investments through the JIC. There is no limit to the opportunities that can be unlocked together,” he tweeted. — Bernama
