KUALA LUMPUR: To ensure that he is in time to pay his last respects to Sultan Ismail Petra who died yesterday, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah travelled on the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) A400M transport aircraft to Kelantan.

Sultan Abdullah left for Kota Baru together with Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah to pay their final respects to Sultan Ismail Petra, father of the Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V.

Sultan Ismail Petra, 69, died at 8.11am yesterday at the Royal Ward of Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital here.

According to Istana Negara’s Instagram account, Their Majesties travelled on the RMAF A400M carrier as the other government aircraft were used for other official purposes.

Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah were accompanied by their children Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah; Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafizatullah and Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah Athiyatullah as well as officials and staff of Istana Negara.

Sultan Abdullah also took photographs with the flight crew and a video recording before the flight departure was shared on the instagram account.

As at 2pm today the post garnered 7,341 likes and received positive feedback praising the royal couple on their willingness to take the military transport carrier for the journey. — Bernama
