M’sians should live up to Rukun Negara aspirations: Anas Zubedy

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians should live up to the true meaning and aspirations behind the Rukun Negara, which was formed in 1970 to be the backbone of unity among the multiracial and multicultural population, says moderation advocate Anas Zubedy (pix).

The managing director of Zubedy (M) Sdn Bhd said that the failure to appreciate the aspirations of the Rukun Negara was one of the biggest challenges facing society today.

“One of the challenges in unifying the people is that we do not agree on a shared ambition. I would love to see the government and organisations (to come together) as we need to talk about how we can apply the aspirations of the Rukun Negara,“ he said after the closing ceremony of the #SaySomethingNice campaign, which was held for the ninth year running.

Anas added that every Malaysian should play a part in building a prosperous Malaysia while accepting the role of others with open hearts.

The #SaySomethingNice campaign which ran from Aug 31 to Sept 16 was aimed at promoting messages and positivity and prosperity, as well as fostering unity among Malaysians. — Bernama
