JOHOR BARU: A local man was found dead at his house with slash wounds to the head, believed to have been murdered by his housemate in Taman Senai Jaya, Senai, today.

Kulai district police chief Supt Tok Beng Yeow said they received a report on the discovery of the body of the 55-year-old victim from Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital, Kulai. The hospital was first informed of the discovery by the public, at about 8.30am.

The forensic team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Johor police contingent headquarters was then rushed to the scene.

“The results of the investigation on the victim’s body found that there were slash wounds to the head, as well as bruises on the left side of the head and on the left eye.

“The police also found a folding knife in the victim’s left hand. We also found a round shaped stick with traces of blood in the drain behind the victim’s house,” he said in a statement, here, today.

He said that acting on the information, a team from the CID of the Kulai district police headquarters detained the victim’s housemate, a 46-year-old local man, at Jalan Senai Jaya 6, Taman Senai Jaya, at 11.15am, for further investigation. — Bernama
