KUANTAN: The remands of three teenagers who are believed to be involved in the death of a seven-year-old tahfiz pupil, Mohammad Aimin Nurul Amin at a tahfiz centre in Lanchang, Temerloh near here, have been extended to Nov 20.
Temerloh district police chief, ACP Mohd Yusri Othman, when contacted, said the remand orders were issued by the Temerloh magistrate’s court assistant registrar Hayatul Hafifie Hisham at a proceeding today.
The remands on the three youths, aged 13 years, who were students at the tahfiz centre, on Nov 8 was scheduled to end today.
On Nov 8, the media reported the death of Mohammad Aimin which was confirmed at 1.20pm a day earlier at the Lanchang Health Clinic, about half-an-hour after being found in a listless condition by the warden of the centre.
A post mortem at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh confirmed the cause of death of the victim, who had just been sent to the tahfiz centre in mid-October, was due to trauma on the chest and abdomen by a blunt object.
Pahang police chief Datuk Abd Jalil Hassan, prior to this, confirmed that the three students of the tahfiz centre were detained to help in investigation as they were believed to have quarrelled with the victim out of jealousy at the attention given to the victim being the youngest pupil at the centre.
Investigations were being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code, namely, murder which carries the mandatory death sentence if found guilty. - Bernama
