KUALA LUMPUR: The 2019 Kafa Class Assessment Test (UPKK) for the written subject Ulum Syariah (Akidah and Ibadah), scheduled this Monday (Sept 30), has been postponed nationwide to Oct 7.

The Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim), in a statement tonight, said the examination was postponed as a mark of respect for the death of the 28th Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra, today.

“Jakim conveys its condolences and sadness to His Highness Sultan Muhammad V, the Kelantan royal family and the people of Kelantan over the death of His Highness Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra.

“Following the declaration by the Kelantan government of Sept 29 and 30, 2019 as occasional public holidays (cuti peristiwa), Jakim has decided that the 2019 UPKK examination for the written subject Ulum Syariah (Akidah and Ibadah) that is scheduled for Sept 30, 2019 (Monday) be postponed to Oct 7, 2019 (Monday),” it said.

Sultan Ismail Petra, 69, the father of Sultan Muhammad V, died at the Royal Ward of the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu at 8.11 am today and was buried at the Langgar Royal Mausoleum, Kota Baru, at 7.20pm today. - Bernama
