PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today over the alleged tampering of the 1MDB audit report.

MACC sources said Najib was held when he went to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya for questioning at 11am.

“As we speak, Najib is having his cautioned statement recorded by investigators,“ an unnamed MACC officer was quoted by Malaysiakini as saying. “However, he would be released later on bail.”

Najib was arrested under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, which stipulates offences of abusing power for gratification.
