PDRM’s GOF personnel accidentally shot himself dead

SUNGAI PETANI: A member of the General Operations Force (PGA) believed to have accidentally shot himself, died in the rest room of the Tupah PGA training camp in Bedong near here, early this morning.

In the 5.10 am incident, Muhammad Aslam Ahmad, 31, died at the scene due to severe head injuries.

Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Adzli Abu Shah said, before the incident at 4.30 am, the victim had gone to the guard room and ordered two members on duty to bring equipment and weapons to the rest room for inspection.

“The victim had informed the duo that he felt cold and wanted to rest in the room. When the two members went back to the guard post, they heard a gunshot.

“They rushed back to the rest room and found the victim’s head covered in blood. After informing their supervisor of the incident, they contacted the police,“ he told Bernama here today.

Adzli said initial investigations found, the victim who was still single and had joined the police force in 2008, reported at the training centre in April 2009. He did not have any disciplinary or financial problems.

“The forensic team at the scene found a gunshot wound to the head between the victim’s left and right eyebrows.

“A post-mortem was carried out today at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar and the case is currently classified as sudden death,“ he said. - Bernama
