RapidKL extends services at Bukit Jalil station on Dec 1

KUALA LUMPUR: Operating hours of the LRT services at the Bukit Jalil Station will be extended until 1 am this Saturday (Dec 1) in conjunction with the first-leg of the Suzuki Asean Cup (AFF) semifinals between Malaysia and Thailand at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

In a statement issued today, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the operating hours will be extended due to the bigger number of Harimau Malaya supporters who are expected to turn up compared to the match between Malaysia and Myanmar, and also because the Football Association of Malaysia has reduced ticket prices.

“Commuters can use the Sri Petaling LRT line which integrates with the Kelana Jaya line at the Putra Heights and Masjid Jamek LRT stations; as well as with the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line at the Merdeka MRT station which connects with the Plaza Rakyat LRT station.

“It also connects with the KTM Komuter service at the Bandar Tasik Selatan, making it the best option for commuters heading to the Bukit Jalil Stadium,” the statement said.

Commuters are also advised to ‘park ‘n ride’ along the Sri Petaling route, specifically at the Putra Height, Awan Besar, Muhibbah, Kinrara BK5, IOI Puchong Jaya, Pusat Bandar Puchong, Taman Perindustrian Puchong, Sungai Besi and Bandar Tasik Selatan stations and take the LRT to Bukit Jalil, it said.

Operating hours at other LRT and MRT stations will be be according to normal hours but will allow commuters to exit and continue their way to the interchange stations at the Maluri, Plaza Rakyat and Merdeka Stations to use the MRT or at Masjid Jamek to go to the Kelana Jaya route.

At the same time, commuters can also switch to the Kelana Jaya or the MRT line at the Pasar Seni interchange station.

“Commuters are also urged to use the MyRapid and Touch ‘n Go cards for a smoother journey at all affected stations and to avoid the long queues to purchase the tokens at the ticket vending machines.

“An alternative is to to purchase the return tokens as soon as they arrive at the Bukit Jalil LRT Station but they must make sure not to lose the tokens at the stadium,” it said. — Bernama
