KUALA LUMPUR: The magistrate’s court here today sentenced a Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (Rela) member to eight months in jail for assaulting his elder sister.
Magistrate Noorasyikin Sahat handed down the sentence on Mohd Haffiez Mohd Yusof, 26, who pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to housewife Salmiah Mohd Yusof, 36, at an apartment at Jalan Kenanga here at 7.30pm last July 11.
Deputy public prosecutor Rajdeep Singh prosecuted, while Mohd Haffiez who was ordered to serve his sentence from his arrest on July 12 , was unrepresented. — Bernama
