RM23.29m in maintenance funds for Penang

GEORGE TOWN: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has approved a total of RM23.29 million in maintenance funds for Penang.

State Housing, Local Government and Town and Country Planning Committee chairman, Jagdeep Singh Deo (pix) said currently, 48 out of 137 applications had been approved for funding under the Housing Maintenance Programme (PPP) and Housing Maintenance Fund (TPPM), which were RM14.91 million and RM8.38 million, respectively.

“Until the end of last year, the (housing) ministry had approved funding involving 45 applications (in Penang) amounting to around RM18 million,” he said at a press conference here, adding that another three major projects had been approved for funding.

Jagdeep said the three major projects were the maintenance, replacement and upgrading of lifts, which cost around RM5.4 million.

Other types of housing maintenance involved the water tanks, roofs, paint job and installation of close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

Under Budget 2020, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng announced that a total of RM100 million would be set aside for both the TPPM and PPP. - Bernama
