PETALING JAYA: A security guard of an apartment along Jalan 13/2 here allegedly beat a supervisor to death, after he was not paid his wages.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the deceased, Lee Poh Meng, 54, was found by members of the public in a pool of blood at about 3pm yesterday.

“The victim was found in a pool of blood in the staff toilet. The toilet was also locked, and the hospital confirmed that the victim had died at the location of the incident,” he said today.

Mohd Zani said a medical officer from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) confirmed the death.

“Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) footage showed that on Sept 1 around 6.10pm, the victim was beaten several times with a helmet by a security guard at the control room in the apartment.

“Investigations revealed that the assailant was identified as a local who goes by the name of ‘Don’,” he said.

It is believed the assault was due to the victim not paying the salaries of the security guards, added Mohd Zani.

Police subsequently detained three men at the same apartment where the incident had taken place.

Two Nepalese security guards and a local security manager, aged between 26 to 42 years old, were arrested.

The body has been brought to UMMC and a postmortem will be conducted today.
