PETALING JAYA: Four men, who were detained to assist police investigations on the attack on firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kasim during the riots at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple last Nov 27, have been released after their remand order expired.

Magistrate Nurshahirah Abd Salim ordered the release of two of the suspects on a court bond of RM2,000, while the other two were released on police bail.

The four suspects, aged between 21 and 24, were in remand for four days since last Friday up to today’s expiration of the order.

They were in remand for investigation under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

In a related development, magistrate Mohd Ikhwan Mohd Nasir issued a six-day remand order from today against a man to facilitate police investigation on the riot that broke out at the temple.

The suspect will be in remand until Dec 15 for investigation for various offences under the Penal Code, such as Section 435 (mischief by fire), Section 148 (rioting), Section 427 (mischief) and Section 447 (criminal trespass). — Bernama
