Syed Saddiq says RM250,000 of his money went missing

PETALING JAYA: Muar MP and former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (pix) lodged a police report on Sunday claiming that RM250,000 he kept in a safe at his Kampung Tunku house here went missing.

The 27-year-old politician said in his report that he discovered the loss or theft of the estimated sum at about 7pm on Sunday.

He said the last time he opened the safe was about two weeks ago and the secret access codes to it is known to him and certain people only.

Syed Saddiq added there were no signs of tampering on the safe and the condition of his house and rooms were in order.

In several messages he posted on Twitter, Syed Saddiq said police investigators and forensics police had gone to his house to gather clues following his report.

He said that media reports claiming the lost cash belonged to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia are not true.

“I hope all parties do not make any speculations and spread inaccurate news to the public. I wish to thank the police for their cooperation and hope this case is solved soon,“ he said.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal when contacted said investigations are ongoing and police have picked up an Indonesian woman to assist in the investigations.

He said forensics police have also lifted several fingerprints from the crime scene.

It is believed that the detained woman who was remanded today is the politician’s domestic maid.
