JOHOR BARU: A taxi driver was fined RM5,000 in default five months jail by the Magistrates’ Court here today after he pleaded guilty to possessing 245 kg of beef from illegally slaughtered cattle.

Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman imposed the sentence on Abdul Malik Mohamad, 35, from Taman Senai Indah, near Kulai, who committed the offence at Ladang Kelapa Sawit Batu 20, Jalan Sungai Tiram, Kampung Pasir, Ulu Tiram, here about 5.45am on May 5.

According to the facts of the case, state Department of Veterinary Services raided the oil palm plantation on May 5 and seized 245 kg of beef as well as an axe and a machete believed to be used to slaughter the animals. Bernama
