LABUAN: A 42-year-old secondary school teacher pleaded not guilty at the Labuan court today to separate charges of cheating two individuals of a total of RM60,000 in a land scam.

In the first case, Fauziah Halim was charged with duping a man into depositing RM40,000 as initial payment for a 0.135-acre piece of land priced at RM80,000 in Kg Bukit Kuda on Jan 1, 2017 into an account under the name of Fast Home Land, where the accused herself is a director.

In the second case, Fauziah is alleged to have duped a woman into paying RM20,000 on Jan 31, 2108 for another piece of land measuring 0.122acre, also worth RM80,000, in the same location.

However, the woman was shocked to find there was no record of application to sell the said land upon checking with the Labuan Land and Mines Department three months after making the payment and immediately lodged a police report.

Registrar Azimah Mohd Yussof allowed bail of RM3,000 for each charge with two local sureties and set Sept 10 for mention at the Magistrate’s Court.

Prosecuting officer ASP Hasnan Abidin told Bernama the accused has an ongoing trial for a similar charge of land scam. — Bernama
