Tragic end to love affair with murder and suicide bid

PETALING JAYA: A love affair ended tragically when a man murdered his girlfriend at the parking lot of a mosque in Sungai Way, but failed in his bid to take his own life last night.

In the 10.18pm incident, Asmaul Chasanah, 28, was stabbed in the chest and found dead following an argument at the Masjid Al-Husna parking lot here.

Petaling Jaya district police chief, ACP Mohd Zani Che Din, said the woman had known her attacker, a fellow Indonesian, for about two months and had gone on several dates with him.

“In that two months, the man had apparently spent money on her. However, he came into financial difficulty recently, and was unable to spend for her. The woman rejected his relationship and that angered the man,” he said.

After stabbing the woman, the man was said to have stabbed himself in the stomach and drank some poison.

Police were alerted to the incident and both individuals were taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre at 1.50am.

The man has since been arrested and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
