Malaysian government condemns Istanbul terrorist attack

    PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian government has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, on Jan 12 that claimed at least 10 innocent lives and caused injuries to 15 others.
    It expressed its deepest condolences to the government and people of Turkey and to the families and victims affected by the attack.
    According to the Malaysian embassy in Ankara, so far there has been no report of any Malaysian casualties. It is also in close contact with Malaysians, including students, in Istanbul.
    The Foreign Affairs Ministry, meanwhile, reminded Malaysians residing and travelling to Istanbul to always give utmost priority to their personal safety and security of their surroundings, and to closely monitor and comply with any advisory issued by the Turkish government.
    The ministry, through its embassy in Ankara, will continue to monitor the situation.
