AN Indonesian maid in Singapore decided to spike her employer’s food after she had enough of the scolding she received.

The 30-year-old maid, identified as Diana, mixed her saliva, urine and menstrual blood into the rice and drinking water which were served to her employer’s family.

According to Straits Times the maid did this because she believed the ‘ritual’ of sorts would get her employers to listen to her and not reprimand her for any bad performance.

This was not the only bad thing she had done. Ever since she was hired to work for the family of six in 2017, she began stealing money.

Diana has stolen over SG$13,000 (RM39,000) from the family on five different occasions between August 2017 and June 2018. She also managed to steal another SG$4,200 (RM12,600) between September and November 2019.

Surprisingly, she managed to steal the money from a safe in her employer’s bedroom. While cleaning the house, she realised the safe was kept in the bedroom of the 67-year-old housewife and began to hatch a plan.

Realising the safe can only be unlocked with a digital number lock, she began to pay close attention on the housewife each time she unlocked the iPad.

When the maid was alone at home, she tried the same numeric passcode on the safe and was able to access the money.

She then passed the money to another Indonesian woman to be remitted back to her family.

It’s unclear how her offences came to light but the housewife lodged a police report on Oct 6, last year.

The maid was sentenced to six months and seven weeks’ jail after pleading guilty to two counts of mischief and one theft charge on Monday.

She wasn’t represented by a lawyer and regrets what she did.

“I would like to apologise to my employers from the bottom of my heart ... I stole my employer’s money because my family in Indonesia has some distress. I am very remorseful,” she added.
