(Video) Vlogger says doctors in China are being arrested for discussing coronavirus

SERPENTZA, a South African video blogger who is based in China, has claimed in a video that the government has arrested doctors who discussed the recent coronavirus outbreak.

Referring to screenshots of WeChat conversations from a doctor’s chat group, Seprentza showed messages by a doctor named Lee Wen Liang. The doctor allegedly said: “Coming out of the seafood market are seven cases of SARS.”

According to the YouTuber, the Wen Liang was subsequently called out for tea by the police and was forced to sign a document. A photo of the document was displayed on the video and Serpentza claims that it contains a statement by the police accusing Lee of spreading rumours concerning SARS.

It was further alleged the doctor was forced to use his thumbprint in the document, essentially agreeing that if he spread such rumours again, he will face the full brunt of the law.

Serpentza also claimed that the doctor was wrongfully reported to have contracted the virus, when in reality he had only treated patients with the virus.

The YouTuber also took the opportunity to highlight how the Chinese government is using bullying tactics to hide the truth. He then referred to his wife, a Chinese doctor, who told him how deaths are reported in the country.

Referring to his wife, Serpentza said in the video: “When someone goes to a hospital in China with a complication like pneumonia ... if they contract the flu which exacerbates the ailment and the patient dies, the cause of death will be listed down as pneumonia.”
