CONTINUING the legacy from its debut in 2017, international beauty pageant Miss CosmoWorld is back in its quest for contemporary modern ladies who are independent and passionate about life with good leadership qualities.

This year saw a greater number of participants, with 28 beauty queens from over 20 different countries around the world coming to Malaysia in the hopes of bagging the title of Miss CosmoWorld 2018 on Dec 2 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The pageant was created by local celebrity Carrie Lee, winner of Miss Chinese Cosmos International 2004, and was intended to select from a group of beauty queens from different walks of life to improve their individual personalities, helping them grow into excellent beauty queens.

Lee herself is an inspiration to all participants, rising from humble beginnings to become a successful entrepreneur.

Her story serves as a testament to all aspiring beauty queens that anything is possible.

Lee expressed her gratitude for all the opportunities and experiences that her previous title has brought her, and hoped that that this year’s contestants of Miss CosmoWorld 2018 would be able to grow from their experiences.

She also hopes to create more social awareness and values through Miss CosmoWorld 2018, while raising funds for the children of the Lovely Disabled Home in Petaling Jaya, Selangor throughout the pageant events, including the grand finals.

Meanwhile, a subsidiary title – Best National Costume – was announced during a recent press conference for the pageant, which also saw a presentation from each of the 28 contestants showcasing their distinctive national costumes.

The title was won by 21-year beauty blogger and representative from Malaysia, Evian Lee, who wore a hibiscus-inspired ensemble which she designed herself.

She said: “I think the national flower of Malaysia truly represents the beauty of women, and it symbolises love, passion and energy which are values I want to bring to my audience.

“Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than to believe that she is beautiful. It’s all about the mindset; if you believe that you are then you really are.

“Participating the pageant allows me to empower and encourage [other] women to be more independent, disciplined, and confident to build a position for themselves in society.”
