Phillies place RHP Arrieta (hamstring) on IL

17 Sep 2020 / 09:04 H.

The Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Jake Arrieta on the 10-day injured list because of a right hamstring strain Wednesday.

Arrieta, 34, grabbed his hamstring after delivering a pitch one day earlier against the New York Mets. He left after 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run on eight hits.

It is uncertain whether Arrieta will pitch again for the Phillies, who are fighting for a berth in the expanded playoffs. Arrieta is in the final season of a three-year, $75 million deal that he signed before the start of the 2018 campaign.

Since that time, Arrieta has gone 22-23 with a 4.36 ERA in 64 starts. He is 4-4 with a 5.08 ERA in nine starts this season.

The Phillies made three other transactions Wednesday, placing outfielder Kyle Garlick (oblique strain) on the 10-day injured list and promoting right-hander Connor Brogdon and outfielder Mickey Moniak from the team's training site in Lehigh Valley.
