UK finance minister says cannot predict how many jobs new scheme will save

LONDON, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Britain's finance minister Rishi Sunak said on Thursday it was impossible to predict how many jobs would be saved by a new job-support scheme he announced earlier.
The new programme, replacing a furlough scheme set up at the start of the COVID-19 crisis six months ago, will involve government supporting workers whose employers keep them on at least a third of their normal hours.
