PETALING JAYA: Sapura Energy Bhd has secured two major projects in South America and a drilling contract in Ivory Coast valued at RM840 million collectively, which brings its total contract wins to date to RM1.6 billion.

In South America, the group has secured the engineering, procurement, construction and installation scope project for the Eni Mexico S de RL de CV Amoca Project – Offshore Block Area 1 in Mexico, via its subsidiary Sapura Energy Mexicana SAPI de CV.

It stated that the contract entails the transport and installation of the Amoca platform and the pipeline and subsea cable interconnecting the Amoca and Mizton platforms with the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit. The works are expected to be completed by fourth-quarter 2022.

For Brazil, Sapura’s joint venture company with Seadrill Ltd, Sapura Navegação Marítima SA has been awarded a 12-month extension to the contract for the operation of pipe-laying support vessel Sapura Esmeralda by the country’s national oil company, Petróleo Brasileiro SA.

The scope of work for the contract entails the provision of services and charter for the installation and recovery of flexible pipes, by utilising Sapura Esmeralda in Brazilian waters.

The existing contract is expected to complete by April 2021 and the 12-month extension will begin immediately after the original contract of Sapura Esmeralda ends.

Meanwhile, the group shared that the Ivory Coast contract was awarded by Foxtrot International LDC for the provision of its tender assist drilling rig Sapura Berani services in the country.

The contract scope comprises the provision of semi tender-assist drilling rig services for three wells, offshore Ivory Coast, commencing in first-quarter 2022. It includes the option of one well extension.

With this contract, Sapura Energy will have two of its rigs operating in the African continent. Its semi-submersible tender assisted drilling rig Sapura Jaya is working offshore Angola.
